Low-level laser therapy leverages the anatomical specificity of acupuncture and massage therapy and improves on these interventions by combining them with the penetrative power of photomedicine. Laser therapy is proposed as an effective intervention to reduce pain, relax muscles, and improve tissue circulation. It accomplishes this by local cellular and tissue effects using light (photons) versus an acupuncture needle or physical pressure. Therefore, treatment effectiveness and the types of responses seen depend heavily on if and how light enters the body. We offer this therapeutic intervention as an adjuvant to multi-modal pain management techniques to improve post-surgical healing and manage chronic pain conditions in pets of all sizes and ages.
